Owen is one of Loyola's Heroes. He was injured during a riding lawn mower accident and airlifted to Loyola's Level I Trauma Center. Carrie, Owen's mom, talks about how hard it was to see her little boy in pain. Owen lost most of his right foot, except for his heel pad, and a degloving injury in which much of the tissue on the back of the left leg was destroyed. The nurses got to know Owen so well, even how Elmo was key to getting medicine down. His parents and nurses can't believe how quickly he has recovered. It is for children like Owen that Loyola holds its annual Health, Hope & Heroes 5K Run/Walk. For more information, please visit loyolamedicine5k.org.
