According to Automotive News, Tesla's general counsel has resigned after two months on the job,. Dane Butswinkas was initially brought in to represent Tesla's CEO Elon Musk during a legal dispute with the Securities and Exchange Commission last fall. Butswinkas plans to return to his legal practice in Washington DC as a trial lawyer. Although the 57-year-old will return to the firm Williams & Connolly, he expects to continuing working with Tesla as outside counsel. Jonathan Chang, a vice president in Tesla's legal department, was chosen to replace Butswinkas as general counsel.
